Mr. Caleb Mitchum
Mr. Caleb Mitchum is a flutist who has taught and played in the Oklahoma City area for seven years. Mr. Mitchum received his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Flute Performance from Oklahoma City University in 2014 and 2016 respectively. As a student Caleb performed in every capacity available. He was an active member of the OCU Symphony Orchestra, the Opera and Music Theater Orchestra, the Wind Philharmonic, the Oculus Wind Quintet, the Quicksilver Flute Quartet, the OCU Flute Choir, and countless other ensembles. Today Caleb performs with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and at many small venues around Oklahoma.
He was the winner of the Gold Medal in the Winds and Brass division of the International Crescendo Music Awards in 2013, the winner of Oklahoma Flute Society Collegiate Competition in 2011 and 2012, and performed as a soloist with the Oklahoma Community Orchestra in 2016 as winner of their Young Artist Competition. In 2009 Caleb was also a soloist with the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra under Dr. John Clinton as a winner of the OYO Concerto Competition, and was a member of the orchestra throughout 2009 and 2010.
Caleb remains an active performer and teacher, playing in concerts around the metro and maintaining a studio of successful private students in addition to his duties managing the programs of Oklahoma Youth Orchestras.
