Summer Symphony Strings Camp

Monday, June 18 to Friday, June 22, 2018

Peter Markes, Camp Artistic Director

The Summer Symphony Strings camp is an annual commuter day camp, no audition required! This camp was open to students in grades 5 through 8 (in the 2017-2018 school year) who have been playing for at least one year and can read music. Students participate in orchestra rehearsals and sectionals, working with professional staff members who supervise all activities. The daily schedule includes other arts experiences outside of music, including visiting a violin-making studio, a movement classes with the OKC Ballet, and gallery tours with the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. Join us for the fourth annual Summer Symphony Strings Camp for a week of music-making fun!

“The students in the OYO’s Summer Symphony Strings Camp continue to amaze me! In just one week they are able to create an amazing, mature musical product that belies their young age. I am also continually in awe at how they grow in their maturity, their relationships, and their leadership. These are the real tenets why we teach music, and I am humbled to be a part of the team that makes this growth possible each year.”
